The Children's House Montessori School is situated in the leafy suburb of North Ryde adjacent to the beautiful bushland of Pryor Park. It has been established there for 18 years.
The preschool is a community based, not-for-profit organisation that welcomes parent input. By helping in whatever way possible, parents are closer to their child’s school environment, they aware of the needs and dynamics of the school and importantly can help to keep costs down.
Our Montessori preschool provides a three-year program for children aged 3-6 years. For the first two years, children attend a half-day session of three and one half hours each day for five days per week. During the third year or “when children are eligible to attend kindergarten”, the children attend the school for an additional two and one half hours each day. In the kindergarten year, everything learned in the previous two years is consolidated and self-confidence, leadership and responsibility are developed .We also offer Extended Hours for 3 and 4 year old children up to 3.30 pm each day.
We run parent toddler sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 11am. We encourage you to observe a class in action. Please phone Denise on 98890400 to make an appointment

Book Week is coming up in the Child Care Calendar and there is no better time to help encourage healthy eating habits in children than by reading a good book about it!
Here are our top 3 recommendations for Book Week in 2018 which focus on health eating:
We Are What We Eat– by Kristy Hammil- According to the description, “Your kids will start to recognize the difference between foods that are nourishing to their bodies and foods that aren’t.” Great for kids 2-10 years old.
Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food by Stan and Jan Berenstain. Mama and Dr. Grizzly attempt to help their children understand the importance of nutritious foods and exercise.
Gregory the Terrible Eater by Mitchell Sharmat – Gregory is a goat that only eats fruits, vegetables, bread and butter. This disappoints his parents because they wish he would eat tires, shoelaces, tin cans, and cardboard. The kids think it’s hilarious!
Hearty Health are passionate about providing fresh seasonal meals to children in child care which are delivered directly to child care centre fridges every day.

We hear a lot about gratitude and how it can help us feel happier and more content with life, but does it really work?
Robert A Emmons, social scientist and the author of ‘Gratitude Works’, has been studying the science of gratitude for many years. Called the ‘world expert’ on Gratitude by Berkeley University in California, Emmons has completed countless studies involving thousands of people aged between 8-80 around the benefits of gratitude and how it works to definitely increase our feelings of contentment with life, when it comes to the past, present or the future.
His Clinical Trials indicate that the practice of gratitude can have dramatic and lasting effects in a person’s life. It can lower blood pressure, improve immune function, promote happiness and well-being and incite acts of helpfulness, generosity and cooperation.
Gratitude is defined as ‘A felt sense of wonder, thankfulness, and appreciation for life’. It ‘Helps us savour our positive experiences’.
