Gladesville Occasional Child Care Service
GOCCC aims to provide flexible, affordable, accessible and quality care for children under school age. As a not-for-profit organization, any earnings made by the Centre must be re-invested in the Centre, rather than being distributed to owners or shareholders.
The Centre is open from 8:30am until 4pm, Monday to Friday. We offer 2 types of bookings in our centre
Permanent Bookings: A permanent position is a regular allocated place and the same time and day each week. Permanent positions offer security, the ability to plan ahead or attend regular commitments. Permanent positions that are a morning spot or full day spot start at 9am regardless of drop off.
Casual Bookings: A casual position is occasional childcare. A position may be booked in advance, or at little notice if available. The position can be from 3 hours minimum to a whole day maximum. Two casual booking can be secured at any given time (i.e. it is not possible to book more than two days in regardless of how frequent or sporadic the bookings are). Casual positions that are a morning spot or full day spot start at 9am regardless of drop off.

Biting can happen more often when a child is going through a major change, such as weaning, a new baby arriving in the family, or moving to a new house. Children also find it more difficult to control impulsive behaviour when they are tired or hungry.
Empathy is a difficult concept to grasp, and can take some time to learn. While biting will be outgrown with time, there are things you can do to help:
Responding to biting with physical discipline, such as biting the child back, is unlikely to help the situation. Instead of understanding how the other person felt when they were bitten, the child may learn that it is reasonable to bite when you are very angry.
As with many behavioural issues, consistency is key. Talk to your child care provider about how they react to biting incidents, and ensure that your methods are compatible.
